The Brief

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of speaking with an Irish barrister on a public radio* program in Dublin (Baile Átha Cliath), Ireland. The program is called The Brief – The Legal Affairs Show.  The young lawyer who interviewed me was Andrew Robinson.  As you may know, Irish barristers are the equivalent of American trial lawyers.

We spoke mostly about my “Tommy Gene” post and sentencing.  But, we also discussed other legal topics.  I was very impressed with Andrew.  He was well “briefed.” All in all, it was a good experience, and I enjoyed it.

The interview was broadcast yesterday evening in Dublin.  I am also told that a recording of the interview will be posted, like all the other programs The Brief produces, on the radio station’s website which is linked above.

I should also note that I am certainly not the first American to appear on The Brief.  Law Professor Josh Blackman, author of Josh Blackman’s Blog, appears regularly.  Here’s one of Professor Blackman’s posts on the subject of The Brief.

The Brief strives hard to have an international legal perspective. Indeed, Andrew demonstrated a remarkable understanding of current American legal issues.

As an aside, and while I am not yet at the point where I need to hire a booking agent, I have had several other interview requests regarding my blog.  I have declined those requests.

At least for now, I don’t feel comfortable speaking to lay people or reporters about this blog. On the other hand, having a relaxed chat with Andrew, a trial lawyer, on his legal affairs program, was more in my zone of comfort.   I suppose that is because both he and I had an unspoken understanding of the boundaries.

And yet I took my monthly shower right on schedule, just three weeks ago.
